Hearing their Stories in Lebanon

Touleen, a Palestinian Syrian who was displaced yet again to Lebanon has kept to herself since the passing of her mother. Touleen expressed “sincere gratitude for the program for being a space to meet new friends and have a moment way from grief. To get out of my shell and embrace my youth.”

Daniel, participated in Molding Beautiful Mind’s school programming. He was troubled, but it was a clear mask to pain he had endured. Though it took time, Daniel explained, “having a space that felt safe made me eager to learn. I began practicing my English and was excited to learn more!”

Jad, an 11-year-old boy, took part in the local Summer Camp programming. Though when he initially began, he exhibited disinterest and aggressive behavior. As time continued, he began to open up discussing his family life, the daily struggles, and found joy in the support around him. By the end of the Summer Camp, he was energetic, overcame his fears, and made many friends with the children.

Hala, a 10-year-old Palestinian girl, was living with her family of four in difficult financial circumstances. After the tragic death of her mother, Hala now resides in her grandfather’s house. Hala’s participation grew throughout the program. Her genuine laughter during these activities showed us her resilience and strength since her mother’s passing.
