The forthcoming annexation plan of Palestine would if allowed to go forward, constitute a serious violation of international law, and harm any prospect of a two-State solution, resulting in catastrophic human and political consequences. Once again, huge displacements of people, wholesale seizures of land and natural resources, including water, will cause economic devastation, political instability, systemic human rights abuse, and widespread human suffering. The West Bank belongs to the Palestinians and annexation would further entrench an apartheid system that should be an anathema to anyone who believes in human rights and equality. The global community has turned a blind eye and ignored its responsibility to the people of Palestine for far too long. Silence now would be a bitter betrayal to humanity.
